How to start a thread in Slack?

Starting a thread in Slack is a great way to keep conversations organized and focused.

Here’s a simple guide to help you get started:

  1. Find a message: First, locate the message you want to start a thread from. This could be a message in any channel or direct message where you have permission to reply.

  2. Hover over the message: Move your mouse over the message. You’ll see a few icons appear on the right side of the message.

  3. Click on the "Reply in Thread" icon: Look for the speech bubble icon, which is usually the first icon that appears. Click on it to open the thread view on the right side of your Slack window.

  4. Type your reply: In the thread view, you’ll see a text box where you can type your reply. This is where you can add your thoughts, comments, or any additional information related to the original message.

  5. Send your reply: Once you’ve typed your message, press the "Enter" key or click the "Send" button to post your reply in the thread. Your reply will now be part of the thread, and others can join the conversation by adding their own replies.

By following these steps, you can easily start and participate in threads on Slack, helping to keep discussions organized and on-topic.
