How to move Slack messages to another thread?

Moving Slack messages to another thread can help keep conversations organized and ensure that discussions stay on topic.

However, Slack does not have a direct feature to move messages between threads.

Here’s a simple workaround you can use:

  1. Copy the message: First, locate the message you want to move. Click on the message to open the options menu. Select "Copy link" to get the URL of the message. This will allow you to reference the original message in the new thread.

  2. Paste it in the thread: Go to the thread where you want to move the message to. Paste the copied link into a new message. This will create a reference to the original message in the new location.

  3. Add context: To make it clear why the message is being moved, you can add some context. Write a brief explanation above or below the pasted link. For example, you might say, "Continuing the discussion from [original message link]."

By following these steps, you can effectively manage and organize conversations in Slack, even without a direct feature to move messages between threads.
