How to add someone to a Slack thread?

Adding someone to a Slack thread is a straightforward process.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to help you do it:

  1. Open the thread: First, navigate to the channel or direct message where the thread is located. Click on the thread icon or the message to open the thread you want to add someone to.

  2. Reply to the thread: Once you have the thread open, you can add someone by mentioning them in a new reply. To do this, type the "@" symbol followed by the person's username.

  3. Send the message: After typing the username, write your message and hit enter to send it. The person you mentioned will receive a notification that they have been mentioned in the thread.

  4. Check notifications: The person you added will see a notification in their Slack workspace. They can click on this notification to view the thread and participate in the conversation.

  5. Direct message option: If you want to ensure the person sees the thread, you can also send them a direct message with a link to the thread. To do this, click on the "More actions" button (usually represented by three dots) on the thread message, and select "Copy link." Then, paste this link into a direct message to the person.

By following these steps, you can easily add someone to a Slack thread and ensure they are part of the conversation.
