Does Slack notify when I edit a message?

Yes, Slack does notify users when a message has been edited, but the notification is subtle and only visible within the chat itself.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Edited tag: When you edit a message in Slack, an "edited" tag appears next to the message. This tag is visible to everyone in the channel or direct message where the original message was posted. It indicates that the message has been changed from its original form.

  2. No push notifications: Slack does not send out push notifications or alerts to users when a message is edited. This means that users will not receive a pop-up or sound notification on their devices when a message is changed. The only indication of an edit is the ""edited"" tag next to the message.

  3. Message history: Slack does not provide a detailed edit history for messages. Users can see that a message has been edited, but they cannot view previous versions of the message. This is different from some other platforms that allow users to see a full history of changes.

In summary, while Slack does indicate when a message has been edited, it does so in a way that is not intrusive, relying on the "edited" tag within the chat to inform users but no push notifications.
