Can Slack see when I'm online?

Yes, Slack can see when you're online.

When you use Slack, your status is automatically updated based on your activity.

Here are the different status:

  1. Active status: If you are actively using Slack, your status will show as "active" with a green dot next to your name. This means you are currently online and available.

  2. Away status: If you haven't been active on Slack for a while, your status will change to "away". This is indicated by a hollow circle. Slack automatically sets you to away if there’s no activity for a certain period.

  3. Custom status: You can also manually set a custom status. For example, you can set it to "In a meeting" or "Out for lunch". This helps your team know what you are up to.

  4. Do not disturb: You can enable "Do not Disturb" mode, which will mute notifications for a set period. Your status will show a small "Do not Disturb" icon.

In summary, Slack tracks your activity to show your online status, helping your team stay connected and informed about your availability.
