Can people see when I leave a Slack channel?

When you leave a Slack channel, other members of the channel are not directly notified.

There isn't a specific alert or message that tells everyone you have left.

This can make your departure less noticeable, especially in busy or large channels where messages are constantly flowing.

However, there are a few ways people might realize you have left:

  1. Member list: If someone checks the list of members in the channel, they will no longer see your name there. This is the most direct way for someone to notice your absence.

  2. Mentions: If someone tries to mention you using the "@" symbol and your name doesn't come up, they might realize you are no longer in the channel.

  3. Conversations: In ongoing conversations, if you were actively participating and suddenly stop, people might wonder why and check if you are still in the channel.

  4. Search: If someone searches for your messages in the channel and sees that you are no longer a member, they will know you have left.

In summary, while there is no automatic notification when you leave a Slack channel, people can still figure it out through the member list, mentions, conversations, and searches.

If you want to leave a channel discreetly, it's generally possible, but be aware that observant members might still notice your absence.
